Strand Marine & Auto Systems Ltd, official dealers for Suzuki Marine, unveiled the latest 250 hp engine from Suzuki – the DF 250 “Kuro”. Meaning deep black in Japanese, the Kuro comes in a matte black finish and is designed to be both efficient and dynamic for performance-oriented craft.

The DF250 “Kuro” was launched locally by Strand Marine at a Suzuki Dealers’ Networking event hosted last week.

The 4-Litre, 24-valve V6 block DF250 Kuro. has been upgraded with new electronic mapping that increases the rev range from 5,700 rpm to 6,000 rpm. The air intake grilles on the hood have also been reworked to provide better air supply and engine cooling. The rest of the engine’s features are identical to those of the DF250. In addition to the new gills, the most visible part of this transformation is the baseplate, with a reworked lower unit housing shape similar to that found on racing outboards, to improve performance and avoid cavitation. What’s more, the centreboard at the very bottom of the baseplate is asymmetrical, which provides better steering stability at low speed.

“We are excited to introduce Suzuki Marine’s latest innovation. The DF250 Kuro represents a change in direction in Suzuki’s outboard design, and a shift in focus towards sportier performance. This results in an improvement in performance that can really be felt. The Kuro is the first model in the lineup specifically designed for performance boats, to meet the expectations of client’s wishing to achieve both better acceleration and top speed.” remarked Matthew Travers Tauss, Managing Director of Strand Marine & Auto Systems Ltd.
